Good Afternoon, Fenstanton District Members -

After a short break last week, we are back again catching up on our summary of offences and incidents affecting the Fenstanton community, reported to police during the period 20th September to 3rd October.

Pitfield Close - Just before 6:00 pm on Tuesday 20th September there was an attempted distraction burglary at a house on Pitfield Close. An elderly lady answered a knock on her door and found a man purporting to be from 'The Water Board' who persuaded her to let him into her house. Meanwhile, a suspicious neighbour challenged a second male standing outside by a blue car, believed to be a BMW, who then called out to the man in the house. Both men fled the scene, although nothing was stolen from the house.

Police are linking this attempted burglary with a theft in Maze Road, Hilton, at 5:30 pm on the same day, in which a blue BMW was also observed, and have asked that anyone with any information should contact the Burglary Team by emailing them at [email protected] or by using any of the other usual methods described at the bottom of this report.

Huntingdon Road - At a time between 10:00 am and 11:00 am on Tuesday 20th September, someone attempted to force entry to a flat in a block on Huntingdon Road. The unknown offender pushed hard against the front door with sufficient force to damage the security chain and door frame. However, no entry was gained.

A14 - Police attended a road traffic collision on the A14 at 7:30 pm on Friday 23rd September, in which one car had run into the back of another, causing a lot of damage. Both cars were on the hard shoulder and the occupants were safely out of their vehicles. Recovery services were required to remove the cars from the scene of the incident.

Low Road - Sometime between 3:00 pm on Saturday 24th and 10:45 am on Sunday 25th September, unknown persons damaged 8 vehicles parked on the forecourt of a car and van showroom on Low Road. The offenders cut off and stole the catalytic converters from the 8 vehicles.

Swan Gardens - Sometime overnight on Tuesday 27th / Wednesday 28th September, unknown persons removed and stole the front and rear number plates from a silver Peugeot car left parked outside its owner's house in Swan gardens. No other damage was caused to the car.

High Street - Police are linking two offences that took place on High Street overnight on Tuesday / Wednesday, 27th / 28th September:

A Public House undergoing renovation was broken into by unknown offenders who cut away the lock and chain on a barrier securing the site, disabled an alarm system, then stole a quantity of power tools belonging to contractors that had been left in the building.

A large detached house also being renovated was broken into by offenders who kicked in the door to a side office and also smashed a window in the main house. Power tools were stolen from both buildings.

Cambridge Road - Late on Sunday evening, 2nd October, police received a report of disused buildings on Cambridge Road being used as a cannabis factory. When officers entered the site, they found approximately 1,000 cannabis plants at various stages of cultivation together with heat lamps and other apparatus, together with signs of recent occupation. Investigations are continuing.
