Fenstanton FC Wins Kershaw Senior B League 7th April 2012
Fenstanton FC became champions of the Kershaw Senior B League on Saturday after beating 2nd placed Cambridge University Press Reserves 2-1.
Fenstanton dominated the game from the start and eventually took the lead on 30 minutes after striker Ollie Barnard smashed the ball into the net from 20 yards out. They went into the 2nd half the same way when Captain Mark Gallagher headed the ball into the top corner from an Adam Berrill free kick.
CUP got a goal back in the dying minutes of the game after converting a penalty but it was too little too late which means Fenstanton are champions with 3 games left to play.
Assistant Manager Tom Tilbury said “It was a fantastic result becoming champions after beating one of the best teams in the league but the season isn’t over yet and we need to stay focused with our remaining league games and the cup final at the end of the season.”
