14 November – Weekly Police Update – Fenstanton District

Good Afternoon, Fenstanton District Members –

Happily, there are no crimes or other incidents in our Policing Summary for your community this week, covering the period 7th to 13th November. However, there are some other items to mention, including an appeal for witnesses to a fatal collision in Wyton:

Covid Regulations – Police have responded to reports of possible Covid Regulation breaches across Huntingdonshire in the last week. Incidents include large gatherings of people in confined spaces and suspected breaches of social distancing. (Refs CC-07112020-0213, CC-07112020-0271 and CC-12112020-0190)

Police Appeal for Witnesses:
Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A1123 at Houghton Hill, Wyton, at around 1:30pm on Wednesday 11th November, in which a blue Vauxhall Corsa collided with a cyclist.

Anyone who saw the collision, or the car or cyclist in the moments leading up to it, is asked to contact the police using the 101 non-emergency number or the reporting tool on the police web-site, quoting Incident 207 of 11th November.

Local News Item – Man Jailed for Possession of Class A Drugs:
A man found in possession of cocaine and heroin when he was stopped in St Ives in October 2019 was sentenced to 30 months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on 9th November.

And Finally – Operation ‘Sceptre’
Operation ‘Sceptre’ is part of a week-long initiative to tackle knife crime across the whole of the UK.

On average, officers are arresting three people a week in Cambridgeshire for knife-related offences.

During the crack-down, the force will be conducting knife-sweeps, talking to retailers about selling to young people, and educating school children through presentations about the dangers of carrying knives.

November A14 C2H update – Bar Hill junction

Dear All

Firstly, we apologise for the slight delay in issuing you with an update on our work at Bar Hill, as was promised in our previous notice.

Further to the recent inspections, we are writing to inform you of the brief return of temporary traffic management around the Bar Hill junction. Overnight on Sunday 15 November, lane closures will be put in place on the outer lane of the junction gyratory and the B1050 between Tesco and Longstanton for approximately one week. This will include a closure of lane 1 of the junction 25 westbound exit slip.

The temporary traffic management will be in place so we can rectify a number of items, such as; replacing damaged kerbing, minor amendments to the central reservation on the B1050, reinstatement of verges and barrier repair that was caused by a road traffic collision. On completion of these works, the junction will be re-inspected and handed over to Cambridgeshire County Council.

We acknowledge this is probably disappointing for people to read, but with us being in a further lockdown period we hope this will cause minimal inconvenience to residents and businesses.

As soon as we receive confirmation that the work is complete, we will update you again.

Kind regards

Remembrance Day 2020 – Fen Drayton with Fenstanton Parish Churches

Lest we forget

Sadly we are unable to have our service for Remembrance Sunday in the church as planned, as churches are closed for services, but we can bring the service to you in two ways.

1. You can join us on zoom from 10.15am for a 10.30am service this Sunday 8th November. Meeting ID is 889 5800 2570 passcode 359880. We will endeavour to provide this service as we virtually gather, it will include a bugler (!) and a two minute silence at 11am plus the reading of the names from the War Memorials

2. You can ask us to email you or to deliver a Worship at Home booklet for Remembrance Sunday. Please message us.

OR if you prefer, why not watch the service on television or pause for the Two Minute Silence in your home or on your doorstep.

We are still going to decorate the parish church porch so do let us have your poppy creations. Thank you for all those donated so far.

God bless, Rev Rosie
